What can I expect in my first class?

You will learn basic stances and footwork you’ll continue to use throughout your training, basic strikes, and you’ll be introduced to the eskrima stick as it is a primary tool we use for training. Follow the link to read about what to expect from your first class.

What do we teach?

Saint Louis Counterpoint teaches the entire Counterpoint Tactical System and Cacoy Doce Pares curriculum. We believe these are the best formulas for training real world self defense skills. We teach an integrated martial art that looks at all ranges with and without weapons. We do not have a knife only program. Read more about Why I Teach Curriculum by clicking on the link.

Are there contracts?

No. We will not require a contract to train with us. Training is an at will relationship and can be discontinued at any time.

How long will it take me to get my black belt?

There is no straight answer for this question. There are minimum time periods per level, but beyond that it is dependent upon a host of conditions such as your natural abilities, levels of practice/dedication, and participation in classes. We don’t encourage “rank chasing.” In both Counterpoint Tactical Systems and Cacoy Doce Pares, the skills at the more advanced levels are directly built upon the skills at each level that preceded it. We strive to make sure that each student has a solid grasp of each belt material before we put the student up for testing. We believe that the material is the goal, not the belt.

Do you accept children?

We have just started a Counterpoint Tactical Teen course. Please, contact us with questions.
